Exploring East Lothian

Exploring East Lothian

Dunglass is a very special place with so much to offer.  The beautiful grounds and gardens – perfect for a relaxing stroll or a more energetic walk – and our historic, romantic Church from which you get a stunning view of the sea, are just two must-dos.

The estate is wonderfully secluded, but should you wish to venture further afield, we recommend exploring the pretty coastal fishing villages and nearby towns of East Lothian.

East Lothian

East Lothian is a matter of miles from Edinburgh and yet for visitors it has a wealth of beautiful countryside and an amazing coastline. Empty, sandy beaches stretch for miles; there are world-class golf courses, woodland walks to discover, historic towns to visit and plenty of wildlife to spot, on land and out to sea. It is also within easy reach of the market town of Berwick-upon-Tweed – just in case you would like to indulge in a little retail therapy!

Other Nearby Towns

Dunbar: The nearby historic town of Dunbar has a pretty harbour, quirky independent shops and galleries and some excellent seafood restaurants.

North Berwick: North Berwick is a very pleasant seaside town in East Lothian, boasting great beaches and stunning coastal scenery, cafés galore, cosy pubs and a small harbour lined with Victorian villas.

Haddington: Haddington is a genteel, orderly town set amongst agricultural country in East Lothian, and has some excellent architecture, dating from the 17th to 19th centuries. Lennoxlove House, a mile from Haddington, is a stately home with a first-rate art collection.
