Getting Ready For Wedding Season

Have you ever wondered what it takes to get a venue ready for the wedding season? Or how long those stunning marquees take to set up? Well, we are going to share a few behind the scenes secrets with you – about how our marquee is set up and our stunning new feature on our estate.

We start the process of building our luxury marquee in the middle of February (the whole process takes about a month and a half), by washing down the external walls to ensure these are glistening once set up is complete. A week later, the frame is erected and we add the external walls into the frame. Stability and safety are of the up most importance when setting this structure up.

The second week, we focus on fitting the doors, laying the carpet and fitting in the internal walls. During the third week, the focus switches to having power installed, and fitting the bar and dance floor (we couldn’t have a wedding without any of these things!). It now looks like it’s really starting to take shape and you can see it as a blank canvas. We love picturing the magical events that will be held here in the coming months!

Marquee set up floorJust like when you decorate your own home, we add a little character around the marquee – a lick of paint here, and a new pot of flowers there – and the grounds are tended to.. Lastly, any equipment we require is delivered and all of the finishing touches are completed.

The venue is now ready to be decorated for your event. Getting the marquee and grounds ready for the season is a time consuming project, but we enjoy doing it and feel it’s a fantastic feature for your wedding reception.

New to the grounds this year are our feature stepping stones – installed in the middle of February, they run from the house to the road in front of this glorious structure, with a side path leading into the marquee and another to our beautiful 15th Century Gothic Church. They’ll make the perfect photo opportunity!

Sarah & Craig’s Wedding

We had a stunning wedding at Dunglass last weekend and wanted to share that the wedding photographer -Grahame Smith, GWS Photography – has written another blog post featuring Dunglass! You can read all about it and see some amazing Dunglass wedding photos and video of Sarah and Craig, here.

So what’s so special about Dunglass as a wedding venue? Great scenery, vintage & traditional, whilst still being contemporary, great staff that excel in looking after you and great views. It’s also quite sheltered. We’ve shot wedding photography at Dunglass in all kinds of weather and there’s never been a day that’s been spoiled by it.
