Wedding Belles Kim and Callum

Congratulations to wedding belles Kim and Callum who married at Dunglass on Wednesday, 2nd September 2015.  Dunglass church was decorated with flowers and lit with lanterns for piper David Lecky to pipe a stunning bride up the aisle.kim and callum2

Following a beautiful service, the wedding party moved to the marquee.  The couple chose a pink, white and ivory colour scheme set against floor length white table linen. Centrepieces of glass bowls filled with wild flowers and a sweetie and cake table completed the white and pink theme. Each guest received a Wok Box and cook book as a favour.

Kim and Callum chose starters of smooth chicken liver pate served with red onion chutney and oatcakes  and warm goats cheese served on a chilli crostini with rosemary oil and roast vine tomatoes. The mains were breast of chicken filled with Stornoway black pudding and Applewood smoked cheese served with thyme and garlic roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables,  and slow cooked belly of pork with braised pig cheek served with fondant potato and pan jus.

Dunbar Bakery supplied macaroons eclairs and cookies.

We wish Kim and Callum every happiness as they start they lives together.

Wedding Belles Karen and Mike

Congratulations to Karen and Mike who married at Dunglass on Saturday August 29th 2015. The couple chose a vintage & rustic wedding theme with pastel colours including mint, blush & gold. The marquee was further dressed with tissue pom poms around the perimeter. LOVE lights were set up along with a sweetie table.

In a unique twist, the bride and groom opted for Cheese Wedding Cake – we’ve noticed a growing trend in cheese wedding cakes this year.

The father of the Bride provided a Cogg, continuing an Orkney tradition. The cogg is a small wooden bucket that is passed around the guests who are encouraged to take a small sip. It contains a heated alcoholic mixture.

Starters included Dunbar crab infused with parmesan and coriander accompanied with North Berwick lobster, local micro herb salad served with homemade toasted rosemary and olive bread, and salad of Belhaven hot smoked salmon, served with a saffron dressing and lemon bread.karen and mike 4

The couple chose a main course of oven roasted Gilmore’s beef served with wild garlic dauphinoise, ox cheek suet pie, locally picked vegetables and a red wine jus, with classic cranachan topped with a Glenkinchie honey cream for dessert.

We wish Karen and Mike every happiness as they begin their life together.

Guests were treated to fabulous mini canapés, including mini beef Wellingtons, goat’s cheese profiteroles – and the quintessentially Scottish haggis bon bons. The event had a vintage twist, with selected vintage crockery used throughout the day.

The fabulous Naked Wedding Cake was baked with love by Pamela Stirling, the bride’s mother, in her kitchen.
