Throughout this blog series, we’ll be taking a look into each of the stunning residential properties at Dunglass Estate in more detail. This instalment is focused on the Stable Cottage.
The Stable Yard at Dunglass in the past has housed the carriages. Later, the motor vehicles were housed here, for use by the original mansion house, which is now Dunglass House. In later years, this was converted into the Stable and Laundry Cottages. Stable Cottage can be booked on its own for a small party or as additional accommodation for a slightly larger group of wedding guests.
Stable Cottage has undergone a complete redecoration in 2013 and along with a bright and welcoming sitting room containing a cosy wood-burning stove, there’s also a comfortable eat-in kitchen and a new bathroom complete with power shower. If we do say so ourselves, this is the perfect place to get ready, relax and celebrate.
Upstairs there’s three sizable bedrooms, sleeping six (two doubles and one twin) all with lovely views of the grounds. There is also a little sanctuary of a sitting room upstairs for those desiring a peaceful and relaxing space. Beautifully furnished throughout with fabrics and rugs, this authentic Victorian cottage has a warm style which will make you feel right at home. Luxury bed linen and soft fluffy towels are provided, so you don’t need to worry about anything. This charming cottage also has all the comforts of home, including Wi-Fi and a TV with DVD player.
We believe our accommodation is perfect for wedding couples and their guests to stay. If you’re interested in having your wedding on the estate, please contact our Event Planning team.

Situated in close proximity to Dunglass House and within short walking distance of the Estate’s historic gothic church, Laundry Cottage can be hired on its own for smaller, more intimate celebrations or rented as additional accommodation for a large group or wedding party.
Built in the 19th century to service the old mansion house, where Dunglass House is currently, Laundry Cottage was extended in the 1920s. Along with the Estate’s other self-catering properties, it was refurbished in 2012 to a very high standard. It has a gorgeous, bright, well-equipped kitchen and a warm, comfortable sitting room to relax or get ready in with friends and loved ones. The property also comes complete with all modern amenities like Wi-Fi and a TV / DVD player make this a very pleasant place to stay indeed.
Laundry Cottage can sleep six guests in total comfort, all beautifully furnished with luxury bed linen and soft fluffy towels. The property also boasts a gorgeous new shower room, which we know you’ll just love. The cottage also has a generous garden area with decking, which has wonderful views across the Estate.

Throughout this blog series, we’ll be taking a look into each of the stunning residential properties at Dunglass Estate in more detail. This instalment is focused on the Estate’s main property, Dunglass House.
Located on the original site of the mansion house, Dunglass house is an extraordinary example of mid twentieth century architectural design. Over the years, the house has been lovingly modernised and is now a plush retreat for guests to the Estate. The villa is deceptively spacious, warm and welcoming. It can accommodate up to 10 guests in a stylish, comfortable setting. It can seat 22 guests around the round dining room table.
The property’s fabulous sweeping staircase and stunning real oak wooden floors give an immediate sense of grandeur. The villa is made up of five generously sized double rooms. The master bedroom offers ensuite facilities and there’s a family bathroom and two contemporary shower rooms, luxury bed linen and soft white fluffy towels are provided.
Dunglass House also boasts a fully equipped kitchen, an impressive drawing room with fireplace and traditional piano opening out into a modern dining space and a spacious conservatory where light pours in. This really is a lovely place to relax with family and friends. With modern amenities including Wi-Fi, iPod dock and TV / DVD player, it’ll certainly feel like a home away from home.
Outside there’s the beautiful gardens and grounds of the Estate, which we’d recommend taking a stroll through. The house also has its own terrace with BBQ which, if you ask us, is heaven in the summer. At chillier times of year, there’s a wood-burning stove you are
welcome to use to keep everyone cosy.
