Spotlight on…Ian: what’s in store for 2016?

It’s been a wonderful year at Dunglass Estate, and we’ve welcomed more couples than ever to celebrate their special day at our romantic and exclusive venue. We had a quick chat with our Event Director, Ian, about the best parts of working at Dunglass, and what’s in store for 2016.

What do you love most about working at Dunglass?

I like having the freedom to create memorable weddings, weddings that are tailored to the couple. At Dunglass no two couples are the same and no two weddings are the same – the combination of our skills and the couple’s imagination mean each wedding is a fabulous success. That’s what makes Dunglass so special.

What were your highlights of 2015?

Most important has been the amazing feedback from brides and grooms about the many weddings we’ve held over the last year. The venue has looked fantastic, and beautifully maintained by Simon and team. The new Hickory menus have been very well received, and personally I’ve been delighted to see such fantastic food served in this stunning venue.

Have there been more Intimate Weddings this year?

Yes and they’ve been really successful, particularly the evening receptions in the main house, where additional guests have joined in the merriment! We’re looking forward to carrying this on in 2016.

Is this why you’ve create the Intimate Wedding Package?

Certainly at Dunglass we can really tailor our approach to individual needs. We listen to what our customers want and build packages around this that work, but we really offer a bespoke service. Each wedding should be about the couple as people, not about the venue or market trends.

There also seems to have been an increase in midweek weddings…

Yes, midweek weddings give couples a unique flexibility. A while ago the Estate made the commercial decision to only host one wedding per weekend, so as to allow the wedding party to really enjoy their time at Dunglass. Offering a midweek wedding package gives us a second option, and gives brides and grooms another chance to enjoy the estate over a couple of days while still giving them the exclusivity they want. This has been very well received so far.

How do you find working with estate owners, Simon and Joyce?

Working with them is a genuine pleasure. They’re very driven, and have amazing ideas about how to progress the estate. It’s a real labour of love for them. Our meetings are very productive and a real time for coming up with new ideas to make the estate and weddings even more special.

What’s happening in 2016?

We’ve had an incredibly successful year, and the team and I are looking forward to having an even better 2016. We can’t wait to welcome happy couples and meet new clients at our Open Days.
