Choosing your colour scheme is a major part of the planning for your big day. Once you have your wedding colours, all other decisions seem fairly straightforward!
The complexity or simplicity of the colours you choose is down to your personal taste as a couple. One great consideration is the season you’re having your wedding in. Sunflowers are always stunning in summer, as are daffodils and tulips in spring. Why not let mother-nature guide you with natural beautiful complimentary colours?
Another popular theme is to use your favourite colour. If you’ve been in love with baby pink or lemon yellow since you were little, this is a good place to begin. You can tastefully incorporate any colour into your wedding decorations by picking the right hue and marrying it with the right accents.
Try looking at colour inspiration or mood boards to give you some inspiration, like on our Pinterest. You can also use paint colour charts to help you match the beautiful hues and to get subtle shade variations.
Your colour theme can be seamlessly incorporated in to the bridesmaid dresses and wedding bouquets along with the groomsmen and table centrepieces. Use your colour theme on the invitations, your place cards, in the flower girl’s hair and on your wedding cake.
It’s best not to overdo it. There should be enough colour that your chosen palette is clear but no so much that it’s take the focus away from the celebration of both you sharing your love. If you find the idea of a colour theme overwhelming, go with a different theme, e.g. rustic. This way you don’t have to worry about colours co-coordinating, as long as everything goes with the theme you’ve chosen.

The drinks reception at your Dunglass Estate wedding is a great opportunity for you to chat and share the loving atmosphere with your nearest and dearest. There’s lots of wonderful ways to really make this an unforgettable occasion, and add some little personalised touches to your drinks reception.
There’s nothing quite like having things for your guests to interact with. In this day and age of camera phones and social media, people love when they’ve lots of things to document, share and take photographs of! How about including a hanging personalised frame with your wedding date and hashtag on it? Or a perfectly pretty swing hanging from the massive tree outside the church, looking out to the beautiful North Sea.
Darling drinks tents
We’ve seen prosecco and tea tents in the past, which have been thoroughly enjoyed by all attending guests and wedding parties. It’s all about creating a talking point for your guests to enjoy and soak in, as well as putting a personal stamp on your big day. How about tents of your favourite drinks, a specific kind of alcohol (e.g. gin) or even a signature cocktail? The options are endless.
Inside our gorgeous marquee, your drinks reception can be equally as magical as an outdoor drinks reception. We’ve a sweet haven for your guests to enjoy, in the form of our candy cart. Besides, who doesn’t like indulging in a sugary treat or two?
The incredible 15th century church at Dunglass Estate is not only beautiful and atmospheric, it’s also kitted out with a top of the line PA system. This means you can play those songs that have a deep meaning and special connection to you both and help create the right atmosphere for you and your guests.
