The 15th-century Gothic church set in the heart of Dunglass Estate is one of the finest examples of its period of design in Scotland. The church was founded in 1450 by the Lord of Dunglass, Sir Alexander Hume. Originally, it was served by a small college of priests, comprising a provost, three chaplains and four choirboys.
Overseen by Historic Scotland, the warm, grey stone resonates with tales of times gone by, and the half-ruined nature of this incredibly unique cross-shaped church makes it all the more atmospheric. Perfect, therefore, for the most romantic of ceremonies.
Both religious and civil ceremonies* can be held in Dunglass Church, depending on the kind of ceremony you choose to have.
The fine Gothic window arches have been opened out over the years, allowing light to flood into the building, creating the perfect blank canvas for your big day. At Dunglass, couples have an unusual level of freedom here to decorate and enhance the church to suit their style. Just imagine flower petals sprinkled on the floor and an abundance of flowers and foliage. It’ll be everything you’ve ever imagined and more.
Dramatic, romantic and unlike any other venue, Dunglass Church is a place where dreams can come true and unforgettable memories are made.
