We had a quick chat with our Event Co-Ordinator, Robyn, to find out what she loves most about working at Dunglass.
* How would you describe your role?
It’s always changing and very fun! I literally have no two days the same. While it can be very challenging at times, I love it because at the end of the planning process I have helped create a completely bespoke event that I know the couples will remember forever.
* Please outline your typical day.
I spend my day chasing up emails, replying and booking in suppliers, working with the chefs to create menus and speaking to brides and grooms about adding in extra enhancements to their day. These are usually things they might not have thought of yet but I know will work for them, keeping within their budget and that I know the guests will love.
* What’s your favourite thing about Dunglass?
I love the church. It’s probably the most beautiful location for a ceremony that I’ve ever worked with. It’s like no other venue in Scotland!
* What’s been your best moment at work?
The best moments for me, are the day of the event when you see everything coming together and how happy the bride and groom are. It makes all the hard work and stress of planning worth it!
* What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced?
The biggest challenge is planning more than 40 weddings at once and still being able to maintain a very high level of detail and consistency with each individual couple. I love it, and it lets me be creative in problem solving with all the unique requests that we get. Taking the clients ideas and turning them into reality is sometimes the hardest, but always the most rewarding part of this role.
*What would you say you personally bring to the client experience at Dunglass?
I like to think that I’m a really approachable person, and love when brides come to me with queries and ideas, and we can either work on it together, or I can create something new for them. I really love working in events, especially weddings! I have always worked in hospitality, front and back of house, so my focus on keeping the customer happy is probably the most noticeable thing about me.
*What’s your guilty pleasure?
I always seem to buy nail varnish if I’m in a shop that sells it! I have a massive glass jar full of them that sits on my dressing table. I’m also on Pinterest a lot, which I like to think counts as work….

Please join us in welcoming Ian Muckett to the newly created role of planning director. In addition to enhancing the sales, planning and account management plan, his new role also involves the management and development of the wedding and corporate hospitality venue Dunglass Estate in East Lothian, which GH Event Catering assumed sole management of last year, under a ten-year lease agreement.
Ian has invaluable experience in the hospitality industry at a senior level with past positions including; general manager at Signet Library, Carlowrie Castle and senior hospitality manager at Heritage Portfolio. Ian brings a huge amount of passion, enthusiasm, drive and motivation to help further grow and develop GH Event Catering and Dunglass Estate.
Ian will play a pivotal role in contributing to this rapidly expanding, catering company’s strong growth plans to double its turnover in the next financial year, building on the huge success of the last two financial years.
