It’s the new year, and with it comes a whole array of new wedding trends. Dunglass couples are getting creative in 2016, and we’re looking forward to working with them to create weddings with a whole array of personal little touches.

Read on for our own top three trends for 2016…

Backless dresses

Backless gowns were seen all over the bridal catwalks, replacing the ubiquitous strapless numbers. Showing your back is incredibly sensual, yet demure enough to be church appropriate.

Intimate weddings

There’s something about Dunglass that makes it perfect for intimate weddings. Whether it’s the romantic church, the beautiful setting, or the fact couples can have the whole estate to themselves, 2016 will see a rise in smaller celebrations, with intimate ceremonies in the ruined church, and cosy wedding breakfasts in the house. Our Intimate Wedding Package gives you exclusivity and flexibility in your choice of wedding date – perfect if a large-scale wedding is not for you.

Heritage food

An increasing number of couples are going either for traditional Scottish fare, or choosing menus that reflect their family’s heritage. Lots are also becoming more environmentally conscious, and choosing food that is locally-sourced and sustainable. As active members of Scotland Food and Drink and East Lothian Food and Drink, Hickory is committed to providing seasonal, local food, and they have even created a special East Lothian Menu to celebrate the fantastic local larder of our coastal region.
